Head Teacher’s Blog 22-10-2021

As we approach this much-needed half term break I have had some time to reflect.

This half term has seen a return to ‘normality’ in a most aspects of school life, notwithstanding the need to respond quickly to changing situations, and at times making difficult decisions – for example, having to change our eagerly anticipated Year 6 Open Evening to bookable time slots and a set amount of seating at my Headteachers Talks. However, it was a pleasure to meet the visitors that did attend and showcase what a fantastic school I believe Golborne High School to be.

This week we have had two events;

The first being Year 7 Induction & Engagement Evening which is where we get to invite all our Year 7 parents/carers into school for a formal Welcome and the opportunity to receive information about what will be up and coming for the year. The opportunity to meet House Leaders, members of our SLT team and attend workshops to provide a little more information that they may require.

It was lovely to finally meet you all in person and I hope you found the assembly useful.

Secondly we hosted our annual Careers Evening yesterday for our Year 10 & Year 11 pupils, with over 30 vendors coming into school and showcasing what they have to offer and more information on the opportunities out there for our pupils to further exceed when it comes time to leave us. I always find it so eye opening for the Year 11’s as this is such an exciting time to shine and really think about their aspirations for the future.

This half term has been long but very successful, there have been some very exciting things happen over the previous weeks and albeit we are all looking forward to the break on our return will be the run up to Christmas which is always a funfilled time of the year.

I hope you all have a great half term, and wish out staff and pupils all a good rest.

As always - I look forward to updating you on the events, successes and exciting news throughout the school year. I myself cannot wait to see what each week will bring! You can also stay updated by following us on our Social Media Channels:
