The new term is now in full swing here at Golborne High School. Our Year 7s have been enjoying getting to know their new friends and teachers and settling in to their new surroundings.

Mrs Oliver’s Year 7 Science class spent time studying cells last week as part of their recent Biology project. Each pupil used a microscope to closely examine the cells of a slice of onion. They spent time recording and sharing their observations with their peers. Mrs Oliver was so impressed with the level of engagement and enthusiasm that the students displayed during the experiment. Well done Year 7, what a fantastic start!

The rest of our Year groups have been working hard in lessons over the past weeks, revisiting some of their fabulous transition work and using it to aid their recent studies. The staff and I have been blown away by the standard of this years’ transition work across every year group. I would just like to say an enormous well done to our fantastic students for the amount of effort that went in to producing such fantastic pieces of work over the summer break.

Miss Joyce’s Year 9 History class have been putting their transition work to good use recently by utilising the resources they explored over summer to carry out revision using dual coding skills. Miss Joyce is so impressed by the amount of effort and enthusiasm displayed by her class. Well done everybody, keep up the good work!

The Music Department has been absolutely ‘booming’ recently! Mrs Hayes’ Year 9 class enjoyed learning how to navigate the popular music technology software- CUBASE last week, and have created their own House Music sequence! I thoroughly enjoyed patrolling past Mrs Hayes classroom on Tuesday morning to hear the children experimenting with new techniques. We definitely have some talented music artists amongst us! Well done everyone.

Finally, the MFL Department have been overwhelmed with outstanding entries for their recent European Food Festival Competition. The quality and creativity displayed by pupils has been exceptional. Mrs Avci and her team would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful pupils and families for their amazing efforts. Winners to be announced on Monday. Well done everyone!

It has been a really busy couple of weeks for us all here at Golborne High School. I can’t wait to see what next week will bring!

May I wish you all a restful weekend.
