It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us here at Golborne High School.

Our wonderful Year 7 Rugby team are once again victorious! Last week, the boys competed in the North West semi-finals against St Peter and Paul High School. Despite the dreadful weather conditions, our boys played fantastically, gaining an edge on their competitors. The final score was 6-4 to Golborne High School.

Mr Liku- Downs and the boys are now training incredibly hard for their upcoming North West Counties Final match vs Saddleworth High School. If they are victorious, they will be the champions of the North West.

Congratulations boys! We are so proud!

Once again the PE Department have been very busy working in partnership with our local primary schools. Mr. Taylor has spent lots of time organising and hosting some very exciting competitions.

On the 23rd January, 14 local primary schools joined us to take part in a BOCCIA inclusion activity, each school participated in teams of 5 or more to compete towards the prestigious LLG inclusion trophy.

The event was officiated by some of our wonderful Golborne High School students. Mr Taylor said he was so impressed with the maturity that the students displayed throughout the competition. I am so proud of the way they represented the school.

Well done to everybody who participated. We look forward to hosting even more fantastic sporting events over the coming weeks.

It is with great pleasure that I announce; Miss Hillidge and her tutor group P4 are the fantastic winners of this week’s punctuality league with a total of 0 late marks for the week, winning an extended break time with lots of lovely snacks! Congratulations P4, keep up the good work!

Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting the Achievers of the Month from each House. This is one of my favourite events on the calendar as I get to meet with such talented young people who are a delight to work with. Our fantastic achievers for January are as follows:

Fonteyn House- Alfie
Lennon House – Leyla
Picasso House – Jack
Shakespeare House – Jorja
Westwood House - Ellis

Well done to all of the very deserving winners.

Finally, Year 11 are now in the full swing of preparing for their GCSE examinations. There were some outstanding results in the mock examinations which were the outcome of months of hard work from both our pupils and teachers.

Over February Half Term there will be a variety of revision classes available for our Year 11 students. We encourage all of our pupils to attend these sessions to experience a more personalised form of intervention. A huge thank you to our Year 11 parents for their support and endurance.

May I wish you a lovely weekend.
